We`ve just recently secured an ability for our students in specialization to test and validate their project rifle accuracy. Students get to bring their rifle and zero with our staff.
Students will get a full range to adjust their rifle and validate accuracy to 100 yards. We`ll have you confirm your zero and then shoot at longer ranges if you`d like!

Here at the Colorado School of Trades, we don`t just work on Grandpa`s old .22. We specialize in learning the relationship between parts, customizing firearms, and paying homage to pieces of history like what`s pictured here.
Doug Fair, one of our students in Design & Function customized his Robinson Armament M96 Expeditionary Rifle. Inspired from Eugene Stoner`s Stoner-63 rifle, Doug performed an entire safety check, ensured safe headspace and test fired this gun all in our facility!
After that, he decided to get creative with some @cerakote for the furniture and now has an awesome shooter. Check out the link in our bio to become a gunsmith today.

Rather than fit and repair faux stocks for a grade, we employ real world application to the classroom. Pictured here, @maddie.broberg has been given the task of splicing a piece of walnut to an existing stock.
She`ll then shape and finish the rear portion to match the contour of the corporal and comb lines.
Although wood stocks aren`t as desired as they used to be, stock repair is becoming more and more common.

Here at CST, we take a more "hands-on" approach to learning. This is accomplished by having our students build many of their own tools and fixtures by hand or on machines
As is seen here, our students make their own lathe bits using high-speed steel blanks. They use grinders to shape, make relief cuts, and remove facets. They`ll use these bits to turn, face, and thread many projects during machine shop.
In Machine Shop, spend 15 weeks on manual lathes and mills as well as experience an introduction to CNC operation.
In addition to servicing firearms and checking for safety, we take customization very serious here at CST.
Two of our graduates, @whiley.brian & @allred.rileyy took a 1911 and a Hi-Power style pistol and took it the whole nine yards. These customizations go leagues beyond the typical armorers jobs. We instill frame crushing, slide lapping, grip modifications, barrel bushing fitting, stippling, engagement surface polishing & sight installation just to name a few.

Here at CST, our Gunsmiths develop talents beyond the bench.
Isaac McNett, a graduating student decided to add some amazing artwork on his project rifle stock. By combining his creativeness, work ethic, and skill sets, Isaac used a wood burner in free-hand style to etch the contour of the Idaho mountains on his black walnut stock. He also included intricate paw prints, wildlife landscape & borders.
This type of skill is just one of the many "outside-the-norm" abilities to learn. Specializations is a time to hone in on where our Gunsmiths focus their talents. Whether you want to learn jeweling, muzzle porting, or even inletting and shaping a wood stock from a blank, you can do it all here.
